For a first flight in a simulator, reduce the number of things asking for your attention. Choose a simple aircraft, daylight, clear weather, and an airfield with plenty of space.
Check your controls
Before moving, verify that the primary controls respond in the intended direction. Get familiar with the view controls and pause function so you can stop and check something when needed.
One task at a time
Follow the simulator’s built-in tutorial or the aircraft’s simulation documentation. Practise maintaining a stable attitude before adding navigation or more complex cockpit tasks.
Keep it in the simulator
These notes are for recreational simulation. Real aircraft procedures and training belong with qualified instructors and the appropriate aircraft documentation.
